The Saturday before Christmas

Just a few randoms for today:

Kids had a primary activity to celebrate Joseph Smith's Birthday. They made butter, played a stick-pull, made stick puppets, watched The First Vision, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Went to the post office. By-passed the gigantic line to put our pre-paid postage packages on the counter. Yay! Got the holiday cards off too! The stamps and return address labels aren't one bit straight. But Hannah loved doing it with me. Gotta love happy helpers.

Headed to Wal-Mart... not generally my favorite store. But this new Wal-Mart by my house is the best one ever... hardly any crowds, no waiting in lines, semi clean. Great Saturday experience buying diapers, noodles, and odds and ends. Diapers sure cost a lot.

Abe told me I was fat while we were walking around Wal-Mart. He said boys are skinny and girls are fat. Whatever... Just because he has a slim dad. I told him I wasn't fat and that it's not nice to comment on people's size. Sigh...

Got all teary-eyed over the boy in line ahead of us. He was asking the clerk about some gift card for itunes or something of the sort. Then with the sweetest and most sincere look in his eye told her that he was buying it for his brother. He was only like 11 or 12 himself. Then he took a while counting out about twenty 1-dollar bills to pay for it... all of his earnings. It was a sweet holiday moment.

Just ate clementines dipped in melted semi-sweet chocolate chips. Yummers!

I'm kindof a goonie about this, but I love entering contests... like PW's countdown to Christmas contests for gift certificates, pans, cookbooks, etc. I never win... but ya never know... someone has to win and one day it might be me. It's just that when I'm commenter 11,875, there really isn't much chance. It's fun to wish though.

Truman is a sweet baby. I just love him. He's making cute baby sounds and squirming (& pooping) in his swing.

Bought cranberries for the sole purpose of making potpourri with apple cider, cinnamon, clementines. Makes home smell cozy!

I have 6 blog post drafts just from this month. I get an idea started and don't have time or energy to finish it. Part of trying to fulfill my One-Little-Word-2009 PRIORITIES, I suppose. My home and fam need me. And when they don't need me, I need sleep. I do miss looking through photos and writing about our life... all in due time.

I love twinkling lights on the tree. They cheer my life. Can we leave them up all year?
