Middle of the night.
Fire alarm.
Crazy loud fire alarm in our home.
Racing heart.
Crying and scared Hannah.
Abe slept.
Max slept.
Truman slept.
Those sleepy boys!
Remove fire alarm from ceiling.
30 minutes later after checking attic, house, etc... firemen arrive to just double check and make sure all is well. Poor guys - we only called their after-hours number to ask why 2 would go off so close together when there is no fire. Weird if the batteries really died at the same time. They sent the entire Lehi crew over to check things out.
Final analysis... change the batteries. Luckily we ended up having enough 9-volt batteries for our 6 alarms.
NOW, you'd think the fire detector would chirp that low-battery beep - but no, it decided to perform in all it's glory with it's loudest, longest, "Fire" alarm (that even the neighbors heard). And why is it that alarms always go off in the middle of the night??
After 2 hours we finally got back to bed. One final alarm beep did Hannah in with fright. She ended up in our bed.
30 minutes later Truman woke up to feed. What a night!
So - let this be a lesson to us all to change the smoke detector batteries. The firemen had a great suggestion to change them every 6 months when we change our clocks for daylight savings.
May we have a more restful sleep tonight!

oh no! ours are a weird lithium type battery -- so you are lucky yours are normal batteries. so sorry heather!
That will be a night to remember- so strange!
Mine have been chirping on and off for no apparent reason. So annoying. I take the batteries out, disconnect them from the ceiling, and the darn things still chirp! Ah!
