Sunshine in Wintertime

Remember my quest for sanity during the winter season.  This is the list of a few ideas to help little ones stop bouncing off the walls at least for a few minutes every day.

It's a word doc so you can subtract or add your own things that will work for your family. I included some on ours of games that we have like foam bowling, ring toss, bean bags, and jumping on the mini tramp. If you have a wii Sport or fit, that could substitute for some too.

We might not do this every day, but for the times when the kids are feeling less creative or we're bored, we'll give it a try.

I'm trying to decide if random chores should be on the list.  It would help me get more work done around here but I also want the kids to know that it would be a fun thing.  Maybe I should have them do a quickie chore in order to pick a fun activity.  Any ideas on that?

Here are our Rules:

1.  Mom has the right to veto the random selection due to family schedule, time limitations, mother's patience level, or any other factors whether temporal, mental or emotional.

2.  If mom okay's the selection, then that choice must be done. No grumping, groaning, moaning, complaining, murmuring, or lally-gagging about the activity.

Here's my meager attempt at a hybrid project.

I used the half-gallon container from {Industrial Container} because that is what I had on-hand.

I designed the tag and lid-topper-thingie in Photoshop elements and then tried to get my printer to print a decent copy. I'm not sure how to attach these things so I used double-stick tape.

Then I searched for a cute ribbon to decorate the lid and couldn't find one that fit.

It turned out so well in my mind when I imagined it. Oh well... the kids like it.

If only I could decorate my house from inside the computer. anyhoo...

Now - onto indoor wintertime fun with the tots!  We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the link Heather. This will be good for us when Braden goes on track break next month for 3 weeks. And good job on your jar! Really cute!

Thank you for sharing your list - I want to know how you put a word document in your blog that others can open.

Bill is out of town for 10 days so we are barely keeping afloat. This will be perfect to do with my kids over the weekend! Again, you're a lifesaver. THANK YOU!
