Today - 08.08.08 - is my Grandpa Lawrence Nels Nelson birthday. He would have turned 90 which would make his birth year 1918. He died of a heart attack in 1995. As youngin's we loved doing grandpa's hair. We would put curlers in his hair and comb it all funky. He was so nice to let us do that!!!These 2 quotes were ones that Grandpa Nelson's mother had him say every night before he went to bed. She died when he was young and I can imagine these teachings were important lessons learned from his mom.
I like to think that Grandpa and Grandma Nelson come and visit Max. He will just lay on the floor and laugh and laugh and laugh and babble and smile while looking at the light. I'm thinkin' the angels hang out by the lights. Anyhoo...

I thought of Grandpa and Grandma Nelson both on their birthdays this summer. They were great, humble, loving people. Can't wait to see them again, and we hope they are happy watching us try to live good lives.

I love the picture! I remember doing that too! I just wrote a letter to CoriAnn and told her about the quotes from Grandpa. I didn't think about his birthday being this past week. I miss him. Thanks for sharing.
I thought a lot about Grandpa on his day. I thought of his quotes and his fun personality. I think I could still benefit by saying these everyday. He was great!
