Oh play me some mountain music...

Last night Jimmy and I went on a date to our Stake Center to hear this album being performed. The writer Jason Deere was there with a group to do a musical fireside. It was a fun free event. They had 3 guys on guitar and a pianist (who is actually the keyboard guy for Diamond Rio who is a Mormon). One of my favorite songs is about Emma and the trials she faced. And he had a song about Orrin Porter Rockwell which was a little more jammin' country. The writer said that when they turned the music over to Sheri Dew to see if Deseret Book wanted to carry it, she took it to the BigWigs (who they said were the apostles)...and she could only pick one song to play given the time so she played the Porter Rockwell song, which I just think is funny because it is way more rockin' than the others. I have the tunes so I'll post some soon on my blog Ipod. Here's more info if you want to read about the guy who wrote it. Info about Joseph, A Nashville Tribute to the Prophet

I have totally wanted to hear this album! Sounds good. Jeff and Bethany are friends with the Diamond Rio member guy. They like his stuff, too.
