These Gerbera Daisies used to be so cute and lively... then they drooped and stayed on my counter in merky water for a few days. But I still liked them.
Why would I like them? They reminded me of life sometimes... some days are bright and fun and some days things droop and are hard. Some days have a little of both.
Saturday was such a day ... minor ups and downs.
I decided I was finally going to buckle down and get to the temple. It's amazingly difficult to find a babysitter around here so Jimmy and I just need to split and go on different days. So - Saturday was my day. I was thrilled to have an inspiring time in quiet and peace.
Since our temple was closed, I decided to head to Draper... only after finally getting there, I was told they are only taking appointments this summer due to the busy-ness of weddings. Sigh... I cried with disappointment. And with the rest of our day, I didn't have time to drive somewhere else. Here is the picture I promised I'd take for Hannah (who really wanted to go with me)
Since I was already up on the mountain, I decided to drive the back way over Traverse Mountain to American Fork. It was BEAUTIFUL. I can hardly believe we are surrounded by such beauty with the GREEN and the mountains. I love living in such a place.
This view rejuvenated my soul. The mountains really are the second best place to the temple. I only wish there were more 'scenic view' places to park and enjoy the beauty and silence of nature.
Lately I've read so many messages from the latest general conference about adversity. Wow - it is so real, isn't it?! But the talks don't just talk about how hard life is, but how we can make it through with Christ and using Gospel Principles.
A mother of a friend of mine from Tennesse, has {an inspiring blog} filled with great messages on living the gospel even when dealing with adversity. She is dealing with a tumor behind her eye (which she named Grizelda). I'm so inspired by her faith and testimony. She acknowledges the Droopy Flower Days but always finds a good spot in each day - usually a lesson from the scriptures.
Yep - ups and downs in life - some major, some minor... but I'm grateful for all the good that surrounds us from beauty in nature, truth in gospel scriptures and messages, inspiration from strangers or friends, laughter in children, light, etc.

Droopy flower days are real and make the fresh bouquet of flower days so amazing. You live in a valley of incredible scenic drives. It's so sad you were turned away at the temple--but you made the day good. Way ta go!
