For the Beauty of the Earth

Tonight for an FHE activity we decided to explore the land and show the kids Utah lake. We drove south through the farmlands, horse pastures with new little foals, fields with many cows with wee calves.

Here we are in a neighborhood in Saratoga Springs on the Jordan River Parkway Trail which actually runs through our neighborhood too. So technically I guess we could have walked the 10 miles down the trail to this spot.
I like that our shadows are in the photo. This is a common action shot for the boys with Hannah modeling.

Max was elated to have freedom to run on the trail.

Jimmy commented on how amazingly tall the grass was in the marshland of the lake - like 10 feet tall. Hannah said, "Dad, it's not grass, it's wheat." Wow, that's a mighty fine wheat crop.

"For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;

"The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;

"The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away." Song of Solomon 2 : 11-13

I found this scripture today and it spread cheer to my heart. Makes me want to plant a whole bunch of tulip and daffodil bulbs so that next spring my flower beds will glow with color.

And mostly, I want to hear the voice of a turtle.
