I will GO ... I will DO ... happily!!!

Poor little Tru - I just had to move that sad photo down so it wasn't sitting at the top of my blog. Poor kiddo!

So tonight I felt compelled to lay down the law a little bit at FHE/Family Council. I realized we need to find some sense of order 'round here with chores.

The kids are starting to complain about simple and easy tasks I ask them to do. They don't want to come quickly when called because they are too busy playing. They've occasionally been acting ungrateful for the privileges they do have (wanting 5 chocolate chips instead of the 2 I gave them... that sorta thing).

In my mind, that means I need to put them to work so they aren't spoiled pansies.

It takes more than a mother and father to keep the family going... we all need to pitch-in, right kids!?!

The Lesson: (Idea from Sherrie Johnson about Attitude)
Be Like Nephi ("I will Go and Do" ... happily)
NOT like Laman and Lemuel - the whiners and complainers

The activity:
Thinking of Daily Chores that the kids can do independently.

I'm constantly changing our chore charts. Obviously I haven't found one that works for an extended period of time. We do well for a while and then slack off. I find creating a new fun design seems to help all of us. Here's the newest one ... circle idea courtesy my mathematically-minded husband. (though I do have to say I was proud of myself for figuring out the angles to divide the 7 sections!)

Things definitely melted down after FHE when I was preparing strawberries dipped in chocolate for treats. Basically everyone lost their treat privilege since they were being crazy kids chasing each other around instead of tidying the downstairs.  What ever happened to being perfectly behaved children sitting on the couch folding their arms? (ok - really I don't expect that of my kids, but goodness, do we have to bounce off the walls little tots?!?!). But then I yelled at them to go to bed without a snack. Bad Heather!

We are definitely a work in progress.... especially this mother.

Heather I had to laugh because this was EXACTLY our FHE last night, isn't that funny?! I was just sitting down to type up their chore charts when I saw yours and I love them. Thanks for the wonderful ideas, as usual! May I stop by for any extra strawberries dipped in chocolate? :) Loves!
