Happy Birthday Vivaldi

Today marks the 332nd Birthday of Antonio Lucia Vivaldi.

Wouldn't it have been interesting to have known some of these composers? It's unfortunate that their works were not fully appreciated until hundreds of years later.

Here's some interesting info on Vivaldi from Wikipedia:
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (March 4, 1678 – July 28, 1741), nicknamed il Prete Rosso ("The Red Priest") [because of his red hair], was a Venetian Baroque composer, priest, and famous virtuoso violinist. He was born and raised in the Republic of Venice [Italy]. The Four Seasons, a popular series of four violin concerti, is his best-known work. His other compositions include over 500 instrumental concertos, sacred choral works and over 40 operas.
I thought it was neat that he wrote many of his compositions for a women's ensemble at an orphanage where he worked. He died of an internal infection as a pauper.

Take a Listen to Vivaldi's Four Seasons (#9 is one of my favorites)
