Doesn't it seem like the food pyramid changes practically every year. The Pyramid above is from the Harvard School of Public Health. Our insurance company recently sent us a copy of it which I promptly hung on the fridge. (p.s. the Government has their pyramid shown here). I don't know - the fact that pyramids change so often makes it seem that it's based on eating trends... like tofu and vegan and such. But what do I know.
But I do know that a lot of the foods I enjoy are at the very top of this Harvard pyramid .... refined sugars, white breads... the yummy stuff. I do hear that dark chocolate has some health benefits... so I think my dark chocolate covered pomegranates count as healthy!!
One snack I have been lovin' lately is homemade granola on Dannon Vanilla Yogurt. The yogurt doesn't have high fructose so it isn't too sweet. I love me some tasty granola with craisins and raisins. Hopefully that's a semi-healthy snack.
And I'll take an awesome salad with some spinach in it... cucumbers, carrots, celery, tomatos, craisins, poppy seed dressing, cottage cheese... some healthy stuff.. some not. Please send a chef to do all the chopping!
But I'm also hip on the exercise idea (still need to hop on that treadmill after baby #4... please send time and energy).
Multi-vitamins are my friend... I'm trying these Pro-Biotiks recommended by a friend (you can get a free 2-week sample on their website).
Not sure why I'm bloggin' about this, except for that I need some encouragement to be healthy. We are slacking in the meal department lately. Last night we had french toast for supper. Hannah grimaced but said, "Well, it's better than nothing." And then tonight at 7 p.m. we had hashbrowns and omelets with ham and green pepper (which Max loved, by the way). Abe said, "Omelets are one of my favorite foods. Thanks mom." Hannah prayed that we would be grateful. Maybe someday soon I'll find enough get-up-and-go to get supper ready before Truman and tots take over mom's time before supper hours.
For now, I'm heading to bed hoping to get a few hours of glorious sleep. That's a healthy thought!

Will you post your granola recipe? I will email you my favorite one. I get the gummy vitamins for adults at Costco. I get sick taking regular vitamins so they have been great for me. Frozen Go Gurts are a great treat for the kiddos -- and me! :>
