This quote reminds me of Christmas Eve... of gentle moments with the Nativity program and then the excitement and twinkle in kid's eyes.
Last night our Nativity program lasted about 5 minutes (scriptures - a few songs - and all) and then we watched part of Joy to the World DVD.
Then the kids opened a present from each other and their eyes were aglow with the magic and joy of Christmas. They went right to bed without a peep (a Christmas miracle!) and woke about 7 this morning eager to open presents.
They thoroughly enjoyed their simple Christmas and played so much all day that they didn't even care a bit about eating (another Christmas miracle for Abe!)
I don't think I can get enough of Christmas messages. I love this one too:
"This is a glorious time of the year, simple in origin, deep in meaning, beautiful in tradition and custom, rich in memories, and charitable in spirit. It has an attraction to which our hearts are readily drawn. This joyful season brings to each of us a measure of happiness that corresponds to the degree in which we have turned our mind, feelings, and actions to the spirit of Christmas." {Thomas S. Monson, “What Is Christmas?,” Ensign, Dec 1998, 2}
Even though we weren't able to visit family because of the winter weather (sadness!), we enjoyed a nice simple day with our lil' fam.
