a bike, an atv, and a hummer

I've been thinking this cute vintage bike would be a nice item for my Dream Wishlist for Christmas. Isn't it happy! I think the sun would always shine if you rode such a bike. Well - maybe ... I just feel like you'd have to sing some Doris Day song or 'Orange Colored Sky' when you rode around town.

But after this week's weather, I've decided I need to swap out the bike for an ATV Snowplow. And I don't even live in the most frozen wasteland of all.

or this Hummer might just barge over the large ridge of snow left from the city snowplow. Can you really imagine me driving a Hummer? Ummm yeah ... Now that would be an adventure for me!

Well - earlier this morning Jimmy threw out his back shoveling the snow. Crank! Pinch! Ouch! So I decided to try and conquer the drifts in the driveway and the ridge. I don't mind shoveling the driveway but when I have to shovel the road to get out of the driveway, it makes me want to cry. I told Jimmy he better take a photo because he may not see my out there very many times.

My appreciation for the family snow shoveler has increased. I've been proud of Jimmy for having one of the cleanest driveways in the neighborhood.

And just because I know you want to see Wonder Woman (a.k.a. - the wimpy wife) shovel snow for the first time in years (and because Jimmy accidentally took a video), here's me in action. It doesn't look like much snow but face-to-face it was to me (only because I'm used to none). I'm afraid this Sugar City gal became wimpified living in Florida and Phoenix.

p.s. Janey said she'd pay me $5 to say I was wonder woman shoveling snow. No - I did not wear spandex. But I was stronger than I thought I might be. We'll see how I do tomorrow after we get another 8 inches.

Sorry this is becoming forever long - as usual.

But because it's Christmas Day, I thought this song very appropriate considering the weather and snow and hail and wind and drifts we had.

Let's dedicate this song to friends in Alaska and Idaho who have it worse than I do.

My dad wrote this years ago as a family Christmas Carol sung to the tune of 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer':

This is the Christmas Season,
Oh how we love the snow
It's great to live in Sugar
(like Sugar City, Idaho where I grew up)
We just wish it wouldn't blow.

Let us give you one reason
why we do not like the wind.
Each time we try to stand up

the only thing we do it bend.
(please bend over at the waist for effect)

There is one thing more to say
and that's about the ice.
Living in a deep-freeze world.
Some say it's nice,
but not this Price
(my maiden name is Price ... please take into account that both my parents grew up in San Diego and then later moved to Sugar City - land of the arctic).

We really love our neighbors (substitute family's last name)
for their friendship is as gold.
It's great to live in Sugar
We just wish it wasn't cold.

We LOVE that Christmas carol! Owen wanted it sung to him every night when we lived in Idaho! The shoveling video is so cool and the photo is priceless. That is soooo a lot of snow! We have 60 degrees here today with rain and fog. The bike is so cute. My boys would LOVE the atv and Wade wouldn't turn down the hummer so he could get to work at the Air Force in any weather! Awesome post, Heath.

What a woman! I too took my turn after Steve came in totally sweaty and worn out. He did the drive way and most of the side walk. I attacked the road. That's just not nice. Should I really have to shovel the road? No. But alas, we wanted to get our of the driveway.

By the way...Camille is going to be cutting hair at my house all day on Sat Jan 3rd. Do you want an appointment?
