Helmut Hubener

Yesterday I watched a show on BYUtv on the internet called LDS Lives. It was a story about Helmut Hubener who was an LDS teenager in Germany.

It was very interesting to learn about this young boy who at first fell into the trap of Hitler and didn't realize what he was all about. But upon listening to BBC and getting the real scoop, he started spreading the truth about the Nazi's and eventually was killed by Hitler.

I always wondered why anyone followed Hitler because the things he did were so horrific. But this show pointed out that Hitler offered employment to people. He created jobs. But in the midst of it all, he killed so many Jews. Sadness. Someone in the film said it was like following the devil - only you didn't know you were following the devil.

Here is a short spot on the film Truth and Treason and if you want to watch the real thing it was on Monday, May 26 at 4 p.m. on byutv on the internet.

Soooo - in thinking about Memorial Day, I just wanted to note all the silent simple deeds done by individuals throughout time who were promoting goodness, truth, and kindness. I know there are so many individuals like Helmut that we will never know about but maybe someday I can meet them in the spirit world and hear their untold story of courage.

What a great story. There are so many unsung heroes! It would be so neat to find out everyone's story. I hope your headache from last night went away!
