"I feel certain that if, in our homes, parents will read from the Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein. The spirit of reverence will increase; mutual respect and consideration for each other will grow. The spirit of contention will depart. Parents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdom. Children will be more responsive and submissive to the counsel of their parents. Righteousness will increase. Faith, hope, and charity—the pure love of Christ—will abound in our homes and lives, bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness." Marion G. Romney, “The Book of Mormon,” Ensign, May 1980, 65
For the past few years we've read these children's reader scripture stories. It seems like we always zip through them so quickly. I've been wondering if we ought to start reading the actual Book of Mormon and have the kids repeat after us kinda thing. But then I think about Abe's attention-span and realize that he can't even pay attention even when there are lots of pictures. And generally I feel lucky if we read for even 5 minutes before bed without chaos erupting.
Has anyone used this book for family scripture study? We have it sitting on the shelf but haven't used it yet as a family.
So my question is - what has worked for your family to read the scriptures, especially with little ones under age 5?

Scripture study with little ones is difficult. But it does work! Funny you posted that, because we have been using that exact book (the BofM for Families) this past year with our kids. It has worked out well. They love the pictures in it, and the explainations at the bottom help with explaining things to Braden. Logan is all over the place during scripture time, but he will call out things and randomly ask me questions during the day so I know he is listening, even if he appears not to be. Sorry so long....thanks for the quote!
