Saving the World one Holiday Card at a time

I have been in a big debate with myself about whether or not to drive full force into my holiday card business this year. At first I thought it would work splendidly because Baby Bean doesn't arrive until December 17. Plus the extra income would pay for the hospital bill for the c-section and baby. But I have a to-do list that keeps growing. And because my energy level isn't at its highest peak these days, I don't know that I can devote a full month to Simply Fresh Designs at the end of this pregnancy.

I love designing cards and it is so fun to see all the cute family photos, but I also realize though it is a good little business, it isn't perhaps the most important PRIORITY right now for me. Last year I had a few intense weeks and did all the cards. Jimmy picked up the pieces at home with dinner and tidying and laundry, but I don't know if that is what I want for our family this year with a new baby coming. I want to enjoy my family, feel semi-organized with household stuff, and relaxed in mind and body (if that is possible). Hummmmm, mee, mah, moh, may, moo, hummmmmmm.

So, I think the 2007 Holiday SFD business plan is to design and print orders from family and friends without paid advertising to the outside world. These cards are some of the new designs I did for this year - fun stuff! I suppose it's one of those things that I WANT to do, but my mind and heart are telling me to slow down my life and SIMPLIFY for the next little while. Breathe in, breathe out .... Hummmmmm.....

I was wondering about this myself Heather. I was wanting to order our holiday cards from you. With your baby coming I wasn't sure what you could do. Lacy was born on Dec 20th in 2005, and I know what a crazy time it is with a new baby at holiday time. But it is also such a special time. I love that Lacy was born at Christmas time. It was a neat time for our family.

Your cards are beautiful Heather! I agree with you on being able to enjoy your family and the arrival of the babe, though. Good luck!

I think it's a good decision to simplify. Make your life easier and happier. Don't add more stress. But you do make the best cards around! There's always next year to do it again. Do what's best for your family this year. Not that you need my advice, but there you have it. :)

You are so creative, those cards are really cute. How much do you charge to do them? Its hard to think about doing Christmas cards already but I need to. Thanks for sharing & let me know how much & what I need to do.

You do AWESOME designs and cards, Heath. Prioritizing is the main challenge of a good life, I think. Good job figuring things out.
