It seems as though Target, Walmart, and radio stations have fully skipped over Thanksgiving and have sped onto Christmas (whoa Nellie!). I do love Christmas but I also enjoy Turkey Day because it's a reminder to give thanks for all the blessings in my life. I've heard so many good ideas from friends (on your blogs) about fun projects and ways to count blessings. I'm excited to do some of these in years to come ('Give Thanks' banner, Gratitude Tree, etc)
For FHE we made a list of some things we were grateful for. The best thing was that we let Hannah write it all. I love kid's handwriting, especially the backwards 's' and the attempts at spelling. I consider that paper a treasure with her innocent simple handwriting for our list of blessings.
A hymn that we've been teaching the kids lately has such a powerful message about remembering how blessed we are even in hard times. (please remind me of this when I'm in tears and at the end of my rope. Can you tell I'm gearing up for our hectic time ahead?)
When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
Count your blessings; Name them one by one.
Count your blessings; See what God hath done.
Count your blessings; Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings; See what God hath done.
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; every doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Love this post. Kids say the funniest things and blogging is a great way to record them. I love you gratitude quote. I am wondering if I can use this as a handout for YW- I teach gratitude next week. Do you mind?
Have you seen the Gratitude Dance?

You are such a good person Heath. Good luck with the month ahead. I love your quote and the song, and Abe. That is so funny. That's great that Hannah can sound out words. That is my favorite thing that Kyler does. We'll have to do a thankful list too, in kids' handwriting, what a treasure!
What Abe said about "gratatouille" made me laugh out loud! How cute is that?
Heather, so glad you are moving to Utah! The Sokols will be so happy, too! You should look for a home out near us--it is a great area. Let me know if you want me to keep my eyes open for a home... Good luck with the last bit of your pregnancy. Doesn't it seem like it will never end?
Perfect hymn. Gratatouille is a GREAT word!
That's so cute. I haven't seen that movie yet. Maybe that would be a good one to get for the Holidays. By the way, you always have the cutest clip art. I love to see your posts because of it. Keep up the good work.
