I think I survived

This past week was wild for me. For the past 5 years I've been used to being home... I haven't really had much of anything I had to rush around for consistently.... until this week.

It was a good week with preschool for 3 days. A dentist and O.B. appointment for me while the kiddos were schooling. Jimmy had jury duty (all i have to say about that is the Memphis government is WAY too inefficient). We had our Princess on Ice adventure in the city. On Friday we had a short play time with some friends we haven't seen for a while. And then Abe's speech evaluation yesterday afternoon (which actually went well - and now he will go 2 times a week to the elementary school for speech - yippee - one more thing to drive to). Last night Jimmy and I headed out on a date to the temple (nice place to have peace and quiet). Hannah had a princess birthday party to attend this morning. And presently the kiddos are sleeping (down at 7 - phew! thank goodness - since I think Abe had about 10 minutes of non-whining today) and Jimmy is at a friends house watching the BYU football game.

So I'm a tired mama. I'm not used to driving everyone everywhere... and with one car I end up taking Jimmy to work, the kids to preschool, errands, pick up kids, pick up Jimmy. So... I'm not complaining - because honestly I really think it is a good thing for the kids to do preschool. They LOVE it. Abe cried when I came to pick him up this week. And I love having some time to get stuff done. I'm excited for the days I don't have doctor appointments to rush to so perhaps I can organize and clean and actually get some laundry done. So - it's a good thing...just a change of pace and schedule for me. I know it's good for our family to have a more consistent schedule instead of taking all morning long to eat breakfast and getting dressed at noon.

I think of all the mothers in the world who have been the chauffeurs for millions of kids' activities, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to go there yet. I'll have to ease into this. And perhaps I ought to live in a small town so I don't have to drive 15 minutes wherever I go. And we even live in the small town country (well - sort of). Sorry for this long boring post about our family schedule...but it really has been a mentally and physically busy week for me. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a good day of rest. We can always hope!

Funny comment for the day:
Hannah who keeps complaining about feeling 'weird' and slightly sick said to Abe this morning, "I think I might be allergic to you Abe." The other day she complained of her ear hurting and her preschool teacher commented that maybe it was just allergies. It is funny what kids come up with.

Oh Heather, it just gets worse, I promise! :) :) Although I have to say that I really like it now that Braden is in 1st grade. Having him gone all day is nice in the fact I am not constantly driving or picking up. Keep trudging along!

Sounds like a crazy week Heather! I feel like we are in the beginning stages of the craziness too. Hope we make it!!! I loved Hannah's comment to Abe about being allergic. Hilarious!

Ah, driving around! It's been a little different for us every place we have lived. I have to say that being 5 minutes from everything in Rexburg is NICE. Since babysitting the baby, I have noticed that it's way harder to come and go with a sleeping baby and/or carrying around a baby seat! Have fun y'all with your babies and toddlers :)

Great job making it through your busy week. Hopefully it will settle down a little for you. That's one thing I'm not looking forward to is living in the car one day when the kids are involved in lots of activities. I, too, have a feeling it's only just beginning. Hang on! Here we go!
