A Gold Dollar & Swedish fishies

"I gotta dollar...I gotta dollar...I gotta dollar...hey, hey, hey, hey." If only Hannah knew this song from Little Rascals, she would have been singing it this afternoon. She was grinning so big from receiving a gold dollar today. Jimmy was asked to sell IceCream Sandwiches at FedEx today (to earn money for a Charity that FedEx donates to). So, he took Hannah along with her bell to sell icecream. We practiced with her to say, "Hi, would you like to buy some icecream?" but in the end she was too nervous to talk to anyone, other than telling people her name. But one lady gave Hannah this coin as a prize. What a treasure for a 4-year-old. The other day she counted all her coins and had 42 cents which isn't even enough to buy a candy bar. She loves doing extra chores to earn coins, but right now we're still working on regular daily chores.

In other news... now that our vacation to Georgia is finished, I have no excuses about not potty training Abe for real. We had a 2-day trial run a month ago. But this time we bought him big boy underwear and we are serious about making this happen since he needs to be trained by preschool next month. So today was the first day and he did great. He even told us 3 or 4 times (plus a few false alarms) that he had to go potty. One time was at the store and while hurrying to the potty, he was "all done" in his pull-up. So staying home needs to be a priority this week. The funniest part of all was letting him pick out a treat at the store to have when he did go potty. He picked the gigantic colored Swedish fishies. We bought them at 5 p.m. and he probably had 5 before bed at 9. He just kept wanting to go potty I think just to get a treat. Yikes! I think we'll make a chart so he gets treats every few times so he isn't too loaded up on sugar. Hopefully we won't have too many accidents or at least have them outside so we can just hose him down.

Good luck training Abe. You can do it and so can he. The first week was the most frustrating for me. I thought I had done such a good job poppy training Ethan that I he would be trained in a day. (according to the books I had read anyway) I was crushed when it took longer, but it was still rewarding when he did get it.
