First Grade - Here I come!

Our Miss Hannah went to First Grade today. I drove her to school because she wanted me to be there to help her know where to go. Honestly - I had to try not to cry in front of her.

I could tell she was nervous & that made me nervous to send my sweet child out into the world (well - at least the playground with the 2nd - 6th graders). She could hardly walk out the door onto the playground because she was so startled by the chaos. But I think she's more brave than I am. She did great!

She came home from school so super excited about everything. Her favorite part of the day was lunchtime. Today she packed a lunch, but she's excited to do the school lunch thing soon.

Hannah said she met 3 new friends. I was so proud of her for meeting new girlies (she's pretty shy at first). She also seemed to like her teacher just fine. She came home and told us for hours all that she did on her first day.

As for all of us, it seemed to take forever for Hannah to be done with her first day. Abe really missed her and asked almost every hour why Hannah wasn't home.

I really will miss having Hannah home during the day. I know it's good for both of us to have time apart - Hannah to spread her wings - and me to focus on the other tots and home stuff. But I will miss her nonetheless. It's kindof sad that she'll spend more time at school than being with the fam at home. Sigh...

Happy first day of 1st grade Miss Hannah Mae. We love, love, love you and hope you have a SPLENDID year at school!

I know what you mean. When Braden started 1st grade it was much harder for me than Kindergarten. When they are gone all day it makes you realize the time they spend at home is so importnant.
