1. I pulled a chair out from under a boy when we stood up to sing in Primary. He totally fell on the ground and I felt so sad that I had done such a thing. tsk. tsk.
2. Mr. Luthy, our teacher turning his class ring around and bopping the boys on the head. I was scared of him but he really was much nicer to the girls.
3. Going up to help lead the music and I would just draw designs in the air with my arm.
4. Trying to figure out what in the world I was supposed to be singing during 'Children all over the world' “Kansha shimasu,” (kahn-shah shee-mah-sue) we thank thee.' The Feliz Cupleanos song always stumped me too. I wondered how they ever expected us to know the words. "“Gratulerer med dagen,” (grah-too-lay-rare med dog-en), Norwegians say it too."
5. Singing to the record of the Merrie Miss song in class, "I will follow God's plan."
That's about all I can remember. My long-term memory must be fading.
I am delighted that I have this awesome photo of my primary class. I know I've posted this before... but I just love it. Mostly I have awesome bangs.
Here's the roll-call...
Top: Michael Zaugg, Brandon Murphy, Richard Vest? or Jared Farley?, Jeff Keller
Middle: Deanna Gallup, Heather, Jeanna Hales
Bottom: Brittany Brown, Amy Clements
Anyhoo... now that I'm in Primary I think of how I can make my sharing times more meaningful for the kids. I definitely wonder sometimes if I know what I'm doing at all. Perhaps by the time I'm 90, I'll have my callings figured out. :)
The kids probably won't remember a single thing I say, but they might remember how they felt. I hope they feel good in our Primary - that the Spirit is there. I know my experience in Primary as a girlie (even if I can't remember it) strengthened my faith to choose the right.
I loved President Eyring talk last conference about teaching children to have faith in Jesus Christ when they are young, so they won't need to be rescued when they are older.
"We help God’s children best
by providing ways
to build faith in Jesus Christ
and His restored gospel
when they are young."
President Henry B. Eyring - April 2010
I guess that is what Primary is all about -
teaching the doctrines in a simple way,
helping the kids recognize and listen to the Holy Ghost,
and teaching them to recognize and feel the Love of God.
Now - let's just hope the Primary Program I wrote will go well. I'll be glad when it's done - that's for sure! Just 2 more weeks.
Also... I'm looking forward to the 'I know the Scriptures are True' theme for 2011. I'll post the monthly theme summaries when I get them done.

I'm convinced that our job, in Primary, is to provide a second witness. Most of the kids in our ward know everything we are teaching them. . . but maybe, just maybe, something we say will reaffirm in their minds what their Mom's and Dad's have been teaching them for years.
Good luck on the program. I hope it is perfect!!!
wow, I actually look shy or something... must have been a LONG time ago... :) Fun photo!
I love being in primary, too. I did sharing time yesterday and although it was pretty simple, I thought it was profound and that the kids might have actually learned something... I might never know, but it is great trying, right?
