Clean your fridge in 10 easy Steps - part 2

In 2007 i wrote a tale about pickle juice: Clean your fridge - part 1. Lesson learned.... always keep your pickles in the fridge door.

Today the tale involves lemonade... which smells a whole lot nicer... but still a sticky situation.

1. 7:45 a.m. Go to the fridge to find the applesauce for breakfast for wee little screaming baby.

2. While searching for said applesauce, gently upset the pitcher of lemonade sending the contents all over the back of the fridge.

3. Proceed to empty all the shelves & fridge contents of the lower half the fridge (we'll save the upper half for another day).

4. Scrub ... with a 2-year old under foot. "what happened mom, what happened? i sorry mom. i sorry."

5. Don't forget to scrub that last little bit off the fridge lightbulb. POP!!! Have you ever put a wet washrag on a hot lightbulb? Don't do it. The moment I did it, I remembered back to 1998 when my roommates and I were rushing for final cleaning inspection. I did the same thing and blew a bathroom lightbulb. We ran to Smiths so the mean landlady wouldn't overcharge us for a new bulb. She was a feisty one.

6. Call your husband in tears because you don't know what to do. BUT really you do know what to do, you just don't want to do it and you need a little sympathy because the wee little baby is still screaming, screaming, screaming in the high chair for some breakfast. And the 2-year-old is starting to scream at the screaming baby. ay-ay-ay... give baby a huge sippy of apple juice to keep him content for 2 minutes.

7. Mama stop crying and clean up that broken glass. The fridge is much darker now. Better buy 2 new bulbs since the other was already gone.

8. Put the nice clean shelves and drawers back in the fridge. I love me a clean fridge.

9. 8:15 a.m. Feed baby the applesauce. Finally... silence.

10. While recuperating from the fiasco, be sure to put the 2-year-old and wee little baby together upstairs in the playroom... For the 2-year-old will whop that baby in the noggin with a hard elephant. Timeout in room for 2-year-old. Bottle and nap for wee little baby.

sigh...

when life hands you lemons... make lemonade. well, i'm not making any more lemonade today people.

Heather, I hope you know that you posting things like this helps us normal moms keep going. It is nice to know things like this don't just happen to me. And it is inspiring to see you handle things well and make me want to be a better, more patient mom.

Ha ha! You won't believe this, but this is similar to the way I usually end up cleaning my fridge. I always mean to do it for forever, and then some mishap occurs and we have an emergency cleaning situation...
