This week, we ventured to the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum at BYU. It was really fun for the kids. Max was scared of most of the animals, especially the bears. Abe loved the black bear the most. He also liked the elephant and the warthog. Hannah loved the butterflies, the trumpeter swan, and the white snow hare. They each did a little scavenger hunt to find the animals on their paper. I could hardly believe that Hannah dared pet the tarantella, Rosie (she was slightly pinkish). But she did! She said it was soft and fuzzy.
Aunt Julie (Jimmy's sister) sponsored a Yoga night at our house. Brock (Julie's fiance), Julie, John, Paul, and Jill (paul's girlfriend) came for the occasion. Most of the Smith boys were hesitant to do yoga, but in the end, it was a fun event. I was a grouch-pot and so tired before we started. But by the end, Jimmy said I was smiling in my eyes. I guess Yoga is good for the soul. Plus, we all laughed a lot!
We've had few friend play-dates this summer, but occasionally a friend pops by for some outdoor play time. Sydney is our neighbor and she and Hannah get a long great.
The night before my mom's birthday we headed up to Park City for dinner and the Utah Symphony/Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert in Deer Valley. It was so lovely up there. It was a breath of fresh air to be able to do that and go with mom. The choir sang so well, especially the first song of the Star Spangled Banner (which of course made me tear-up!). It was a delightful evening.
My mom gave the kids a fun mix of kids music. We put it on and they had so much fun running around and dancing. I love when the kids just laugh and laugh and laugh.
I thoroughly enjoyed my AFG reunion retreat in Midway. Kindred Spirits - inspiring messages - focus on Gathering JOY. I was busy all week getting ready the recipe book, some quotes to share, and a Simple Gospel Truths lesson. It was a busy ... but good week.
