My heart was so sad to find out the news yesterday that a friend of ours from Florida passed away unexpectedly last November. Jack Christensen was our bishop and was so kind to us.
When our little family of 4 needed a home to live in for the summer of 2004 while Jimmy was doing an internship in Florida, the Christensens let us live in their gorgeous home while Deon and the kids were visiting family for most of the summer in Utah and Arizona.
Jack was around and it was fun to visit with him and hear stories of his life experiences as a doctor. He went to medical school in Mexico and found it fascinating to deal with all the diseases. He became a world-renowned neonatologist and a great businessman.
The last time we saw him, he was at the church office building for a meeting regarding his humanitarian calling to train others worldwide. Anyhoo... this family photo of theirs is an old one. His oldest is on a mission now. My heart is sad for his family. They are such a cute close fun family.
Realizing that death is reality in this mortal existence ... also makes me think how important it is to REALIZE life... It just makes me want to hold my little ones longer and sweeter. It makes me want to appreciate the good in others while I have them close by. This I need to work on.
