colorful summer - week 6

This week:
~ Hannah started counting down the weeks until school starts. Hannah and Abe packed their backpacks and played 'school'. Our outing to the library was their field trip.

~ Max played the harmonica. It made him smile. It made me smile when he played it outdoors. Too much harmonica playing indoors by a 2-year-old is too much for mother.

~ Lots of reading by Hannah. Abe listened to some books on tape.

~ Caught up on laundry - a miracle! Put the kids to work a bit more. Abe does great emptying the dishwasher. Hannah loves to sweep... a task that is a daily necessity around here. Hannah also helped make mini bread.

~ Max learned how to hold on for real-kid swinging. He only fell once and luckily was caught by dad.

~ Tru got his first real buzz cut. It was getting too long in the back and sides. I cried (because he suddenly grew up).  He cried (because we were holding him still).

~ It finally warmed up enough to get the swimming pool out. Max now loves running around with the kids to climb up the swingset and go down the slide. He sure flies down the slide.

~ Tru is quite the adventurous tot. He crawls through chairs and bars under the kitchen table. He crawls all around on the grass. He eats grass. Oh Tru! He likes to crawl by the kids when they are playing outside.

~ Abe conquered the monkey bars. This is a big feat for him. He has made it to the 4th rung. The look of pride/accomplishment on his face is priceless.

~ highlight of the week was Jimmy taking Hannah and Abe to the legacy center to go swimming. They loved it! I was sad not to see their fun adventure, but they seemed to have loads of fun. Abe finally was brave enough to go down the slide. Hannah practiced putting her face under water. They both liked the lazy river.

~ a mellow week. tried to catch up on laundry/dishes/house stuff even though ...in the end... it probably looks worse today than last monday. sigh... a mother's work is never done...
