Happy Mother's Day

"When the real history of mankind is fully disclosed, will it feature the echoes of gunfire or the shaping sound of lullabies? The great armistices made by military men or the peacemaking of women in homes and in neighborhoods? Will what happened in cradles and kitchens prove to be more controlling than what happened in congresses? When the surf of the centuries has made the great pyramids so much sand, the everlasting family will still be standing, because it is a celestial institution, formed outside telestial time. The women of God know this.” -Elder Neal A. Maxwell, 1978 April General Conference

Love all that... quote... video by Elder Maxwell... and such.

Onto Mother's Day.

A lovely lunch yesterday at the Nauvoo Cafe at Temple Square with my cute madre. The flowers were oh so lovely still on Temple Square. It was a delight to walk around and see all the bright colors. We also walked through the new Deseret Book in Downtown SLC and that was fun (without wiggly wandering kids!!!). The gallery there is so fun to walk through.

I woke up this morning to this surprise on the table (ummm... don't mind Max.  He keeps taking off his clothes at random times.  Unfortunately he hit Abe on the head with those cups in his hand just moments after I took this photo).

The packages contained goodies such as these cute things. Photo rock magnets and cute cards from Abe. Book from Jimmy and Tru. Cute poem and drawings from Hannah.  I also got myself a new sports watch.  I really wanted a timer so I could ready-set-go for the kids.  I'm hoping the fun of a timer will help them do their tasks quickly.  Or I could just use it to keep track of time-out minutes.  sigh... if life were only fun all the time....
I loved that the kids knew my favorite color was yellow. They all said my favorite food was soup. And Hannah delighted me by thinking I weighed only 50 lbs. She also said alot about work. That I work alot. That I am happy when she works. And that my favorite song is "When we're helping we're happy." I'm guessing she thinks I am working them all to the bone. sigh...

This is about the best we could produce for photos before church. The sun is always too bright for Abe's eyes.  It's amazing that Tru was looking... and see that cute smile!  Hannah was lovely in yellow with lovely smooth hair.  And Max... well, Max didn't have the best day ever, but at least he stood close to the fam during the photo.  We'll give him that!

Overall - it was a really good day.  Jimmy made everything so nice and did so much work to keep things moving along.  I got to sleep in until 8 with semi-quiet.  The kids tried really hard and made darling cards.  We were a circus musical-chair family in sacrament meeting.  The kids sang some songs with the primary and that was cute.  Max was an utter pill in nursery where I was helping out.  But I am his mother, and I will love him still.

Being a mother is hard work... but good.  Yes... very good.
