Our friends Steve and Kristin & girls invited us on their Annual Earth Day Temple Square outing this week. The weather was perfect and the colors were beautiful. Luckily we went on Monday because this morning it SNOWED!
The Brigham Young historic park across the street from the Church Office Building was in perfect shade and as soon as we entered, Abe declared, "Perfect. A place to run!" Which they all did. The water wheel was really cool. There were ducks in the pond, a mini garden with peas growing. A really cute place!
Temple Square was lovely. Abe's favorite color tulips were Red (he said Yellow until he saw the red ones). Hannah, of course, loved the pink ones. I really liked the deep lavender ones since they were so unique. I also loved the mixed pink and yellow tulips. The grass is amazingly green at that place... amazing!
Abe looked straight up at the temple and spied Angel Moroni. I love when kids notice things. He also kept doing Spider-Man type poses which was a new and silly thing. Abe and Alyssa are cute little friends. He's so huge compared to her, but they have some fun and silly times together.
The kids and I tried reenacting the mother twirling with her 3 kids. Max refused to hold our hand, but it was fun to try. We had a good laugh about it.
Abe ran ... yes! ran... directly into a metal construction barrier and got a huge bruise on his cheek.
Max only wanted to touch the water in the fountains. Luckily, he didn't fall in.
My favorite part was when the blossoms blew off the tree and it looked like snow. The kids were delighted. Here's the video:
I'm so glad our friends invited us to join them to enjoy the beauties of this earth. We are so blessed to live in such a lovely place.
These were some funny comments from the kids:
Mom: Who wants to go to Temple Square?
abe: "Not me."
Hannah: "I DO!"
After going to Temple Square:
Abe: "That was so, so fun. I want to go there every day. I want to go there on my birthday."
Abe's favorite part: "Seeing the Jesus Statue, playing with Alyssa, and seeing all the lakes."
Hannah's favorite part: "Being with the family, seeing the flowers."
