Here we are at the end of another wonderful General Conference. Why does Conference seem so long as a children, but goes by so quickly as an adult? I suppose it's because I love the messages of encouragement, love, and hope... all focusing on our Savior.
My favorite hymn to sing along with the choir was, "I know that my Redeemer Lives." Hymns are so wonderful to teach and bring the Spirit.
Favorite scripture shared (by President Monson), "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
Overall, I feel a renewed desire to be a better mother and daughter of God. I loved all the messages sharing the importance of us teaching our children in the home. I need encouragement in that area. Other thoughts... love, prioritize, study scriptures, talk more of Christ with our children. Love it all!!
As for the tots... each session we tried to do something different.
Session #1: the tent. That lasted about as long as it took to take the photo and talk about King Benjamin teaching the people who gathered with their families in their tents. It was too crowded with a wiggly 2-year-old so Hannah bailed to do her conference packet.
Session #2: Max watching a movie in our room so we could actually listen to conference. Grapes, Doritos, some coloring of packets, legos, puzzles. After this session, I was plum tuckered out. I felt like we spent so much energy trying to keep the kids happy and busily entertained with good things during conference.
Session #3: Tables side-by-side coloring conference packets. Max had to be a part of that so he scribbled a little. He did play-dough for 5 minutes, then put on an Easter hat, grabbed the colored pencils and tried to run around (why is it that no matter what little boys have in their hands, it becomes a weapon).
Also, Sunday morning: Jimmy spent some time with Tru on the computer while he was figuring out the stats for the General Conference website since someone else changed all the code and it wasn't working properly. Oh the joys...
Session #4: Max is napping!!! Yay! Rest of family downstairs. Mom making dinner. Cinnamon rolls, more grapes. BINGO... I loved that Abe kept hearing words for his BINGO game.
I was mostly surprised at Abe's reaction to Max napping. These boys seem like they are always bugging each other. But I realized today they really like each other.
Abe kept asking Jimmy when he was going to wake Max up. We were so pleased that Max finally took a nap, that we decided we wouldn't wake him. He'll wake eventually - right?!
A while later when I told the kids we were all going to sit together in the same room to watch the prophet speak, Abe said, "I really want you to wake Max up." "Why?" "Because I want us to be together as a family."
We made sure he knew we could still be a family even if someone was sleeping, but I was glad he wanted to include Max. Once Max woke up, Abe was so nice and gave him a hug. Conference must have placed a good feeling in his heart ... at least for a few minutes.
Later when we were gathering for scriptures and prayer, Max kept calling for "Ham" (that would be Abraham). Boys - boys - boys.
So - overall... good things going on with conference. Hopefully we can keep the good feeling going to make some good changes around here.

We did the tent, too. And while they didn't actually spend much time in there, they LOVE that idea and begged for it from last time.
