The kids did great!
Abe really improved his reading skills as he read outloud (rather than us always reading to him). Abe would rather be doing something other than reading so we felt pleased to average 25 minutes. But one day he and Hannah had a reading party on the bunk bed and accomplished 75 minutes reading to each other.
Abe loves Lego books, Cars books, and Henry and Mudge. He is doing great sounding out words too. I wished I would have pushed him a little more, but hopefully this summer we'll try and encourage more independent reading as his speed increases. Abe - you did awesome little buddy!
Hannah was the top reader in her class for 2 weeks. She was the 2nd top reader overall in her class and won a stuffed Sneetch. After the first day the kids reported their minutes, Hannah realized she did not read nearly enough to be a top reader. She came home and said, "I just really like to win." So she set a goal to be in the top 3 readers. She was pleased that she made so many efforts to read so much. The most she read in one day was 216 minutes. She averaged 105 minutes each day. This girl loves to read. I found her reading in the funniest positions. One night she had her legs pointing straight up as she laid on her bed. Is that comfortable? These were some of her favorite series to read.

I wish Arianne had drive like that. She doesn't seem to care about winning things, so it's hard for me to figure out how to motivate her. Congrats to Hannah and Abe! That is some great reading.
I love it! Reading is so great. I love to see that Hannah is enjoying reading. I wish I could get my kids to read for more than 10 min a day. They love for me to read to them and will sit there for hours. Oh, I think I should find a new book to read. :)
