Reminders for me

I've wanted to blog about the happenings the latter part of this week ... but I've felt too weary and uncreative.

I'm afraid I've lost my temper with my tots too many times this week. Lack of good sleep, big humongous belly, crazy up and down emotions are not helping the situation... neither is the cranky toddler who all of a sudden wants to be held - right about 5 o'clock. Kids who argue over the silliest of things adds to the commotion. Whining when asked to help with chores doesn't please my heart either.

It's all life... it's all normal I suppose. Sometimes I just wish I could handle it all better and respond kindly and gently without a bucketload of tears.

And then when making supper tonight, I noticed the calendar for this month. This is the image for October:
And I knew I must have been inspired to put this as the page 10 months ago when I created the calendar. I definitely need to especially be prayerful this month ... for lots o' reasons. Just can't handle it all on my own and I need to remember where to seek answers, peace, strength - from Heavenly Father.

A few tidbits from General Conference today stuck out to me as well.

Did it seem like so many talks focused on the LOVE OF GOD? To me it did. Maybe I zoned in on those talks because I need to do better at showing love to my children (even when I'm frustrated) and helping the Spirit be in our home so they will feel and recognize the LOVE OF GOD.

I also really liked Elder Bednar's message. The scripture that I needed to hear was this:
"Be thou an bexample of the believers, in word, in cconversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Tim 4:12
And I liked his section on CONSISTENTLY showing love and sharing testimony at home.
"Each family prayer, each episode of family scripture study, each family home evening is a brushstroke on the canvas of our souls. No one event will appear to be very impressive or memorable, ... so our consistency in doing seemingly small things can lead to significant spiritual results.

"Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great."
(D&C 64:33) David A. Bednar (Oct 3, 2009)

When I was tearful at the beginning of one of the sessions after losing my temper, Hannah brought Jimmy and I this card. I love this girl. She had the Spirit with her today... working on her Conference Packet, coloring ties, marking topics, singing the hymns so jubilantly. I appreciate her example.
