Here's the view of the empty lot next door and the houses across the way through the fog.
Even though it's frigid cold and I need hand warmers in my own house (at least downstairs), I've been really grateful lately for winter and the change of seasons.
My recent post about a Colorful Life made me think about how cool having different seasons in nature is. We wouldn't appreciate summer or warm sun as much, if it were always warm and sunny. I'm glad for the variety.
Even in Florida and Phoenix we had slight seasons... we could actually open the windows in the winter and enjoy the fresh air instead of letting in the heat wave.
Perhaps it's because we haven't had a blizzard in a while and I'm enjoying the mostly plowed roads and all the white around me. Especially in the mornings along the lake/wetlands/moore (can I please call it a moore - like in the Secret Garden?), the trees and weeds are glistening with ice crystals. Perhaps it's the cold temps or the fog, but it's lovely.
These photos I took on the way to the doctor this morning (major double ear infection for Maxie) don't do it justice but they might remind me of how lovely and crisp it was. It really is a white winter wonderland.
Some days in winter, I struggle from being cooped up without our vitamin D sunshine, but today I'm content and enjoying being home (in the quiet for a few minutes at least).
And for the times I wish I were in Florida on the warm sunny beach, I'll remember this quote.
