Capturing & Unphotographable Moments

I suppose anyone who knows me has realized that I love fiddling with my camera and capturing the ordinary moments. It's a hobby I enjoy and something I'm trying to learn. I'll never be a professional photographer because I don't seek that (well... and I'm not quite there with the entire camera and skills thing), but I like playing around with lighting, photography, photoshop and such.

I guess these quotes and photos tell a story about why I like the Capturing part of MOMENTS.

"Photography takes an instant out of time,
altering life by holding it still."
- Dorothea Lange 1895-1965

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.
What you have caught on film is captured forever...
it remembers little things,
long after you have forgotten everything."
- Aaron Siskind

"Photography is the beauty of life, captured."
- Tara Chisholm

“To me, photography is an art of observation.
It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place...
I've found it has little to do with the things you see
and everything to do with the way you see them.”
- Elliott Erwitt

"Time will never stand still
and those moments that bring us such joy
become memories in an instant.
To capture such a moment
and record it forever is truly monumental."
- Joshua Atticks

And I guess we all know I love journaling, recording memories, feelings, moments, and life. That's just me.

But ... then again ... I also want to remember to live life and enjoy all those unphotographable moments. I liked this quote about living and not panicking over the things we don't record. I think our mind and heart take their own photos and remember the most important things.

"Keeping a written history of our life on earth is a very important responsibility. Such histories bind generations of families together. I certainly encourage all to write personal histories. At the same time, it is important to recognize that we are each, day by day, moment by moment, writing our book of life. Although not written on paper, entries in this book are just as real and have an eternal impact." Kevin Stocks, BYU magazine, fall 2008, pg 47

Maybe "Capturing" & "Unphotographable Moments" seem to contradict each other but I guess it's all about balance.

Just more random ramblings from Heath.  You never know where they come from ... you never know where they'll go.  But I guess they are a part of me - whatever they are.

Touching photos, Heath. Hannah can take a nice photo, too. Really the photoshop stuff you can do makes a huge difference in the professional look you can get out of a photo. The quotes are priceless. I, personally, love your ramblings :)
