Today we got a phone call from someone who wanted to see our house. Hurray! As I was mouthing to Jimmy, "don't you dare let anyone come for 2 more days till I can get it tidy", the man on the phone was saying he was only in town for the day. Yikes! So for 7 hours straight our family was in a whirlwind making our house ready to be seen by a potential homebuyer.
I've just been trying to recuperate from my temporary flu, send out some SFD wedding orders, and take care of daily tasks, and had goals in my mind for to-do lists on cleaning our closets and making our house presentable. Jimmy had already taken action this past week and steam-vacuumed the carpets, repainted some of the walls, and packed up some of the bookshelves and toys so that our stuff would be less distracting. But man, oh man does our house need some dejunking and organizing for this move. It's not that we live in a pig-sty or anything... Blah-Blah-Blah. All right already Heath!
Onto the special awards for cleaning helpers that made our semi-tidy house possible today.1. Pledge Multi-Surface cleaner dusted many bookshelf surfaces.
2. Mr Clean disinfecting wipes (yep - used the entire container) wiped every other surface in my house (nice idea Mary!)
3. Febreeze Microbial freshened up our ancient couches.
4. Glade Glass Scents in every room (I love these things!)
5. 60-Watt Lightbulbs (for 2 whole years we've lived with 40-watt. All I have to say is, "Don't wait until you're moving to replace lightbulbs." Our rooms are 1,000 times brighter. Mind you... now I can see the dingy paint on the walls and the other spots, but I'm lovin' all this light.)
6. Brown Moving boxes. Half my closet and room was placed into brown moving boxes in a jumble. So now my closets are super tidy and I just have to sort through the boxes and dejunk/find a home, etc. A crazy mess, but it makes for a tidier view.
7. My string bean Jimmy who took all my brown moving boxes into the garage for temporary storage, vacuumed, mopped, did the dishes, changed the lightbulbs, tidied, endured his pregnant wifey, etc. etc. etc.
8. The Jungle Book DVD which arrived by mail from blockbuster online rental. It entertained the kids for hours so we could clean, clean, clean.
9. Wendy's. Finally at 7:00 p.m. I took the kiddos to Wendy's for supper so Jimmy could show the house. How fun is getting your own cup of rootbeer and a hamburger to a 5 year old!
So, at the end of this day, I'm wondering how in the world I'll be able to handle showing my house multiple times (better get more ice packs for my back). But I certainly love having a sparkling house. It's so happy and my kids are amazed at the transformation!
P.S. Pray for our miracle - that this couple will love our house and want to get it. They start a job January 1 and have a 2-year-old little girl. How perfect is that family for our cute house! The man is going to bring his wife in a few weeks to look at houses again so we won't know for a while.
