Uplifting Weekend

Here's the fam enjoying a big bowl of popcorn during conference this morning. Hannah kept saying that she didn't like General Conference even though she was so excited yesterday morning about the bingo game. I think it just seems like a looooong, deep meeting that she doesn't understand. But it helped to do the bingo game because she would hear those key words to mark on her conference word sheet. And today the kids did puzzles which provided a semi-quiet activity. The kids loved when they heard a song they recognized... "A Child's Prayer, I am a Child of God, We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet." That was fun to have them sing along.

Two of my favorite messages were by President Eyring and Elder Oaks. President Eyring's talk on recognizing the Lord's blessings in our lives each and every day was great. I loved his story about recording those daily blessings as a reminder that the Lord does love us and is watching over us. What a treasure to have a record of that! And I liked Elder Oaks talk on doing the best things in our lives and not just settling on doing the good things. I loved his emphasis on families spending more quality time together. That is one reason why I liked general conference. Our entire family was in one room together spending time doing something uplifting. I loved it!
In between sessions, Hannah begged to watch Saturday's Warrior on byutv.org. She loves all the singing and the ballet dancing (in the pre-earth life). I'm not quite sure about some of that false doctrine, but the kids enjoyed it. And it put Abe right to sleep!

So sweet! I love that picture of Jimmy kissing Abe's forehead.

What a great weekend. I loved those same two talks - Elder Oaks and Elder Erying. Exactly what I needed! And the picture of Jimmy and Abe is so sweet. What a good Daddy. And it's been forever since I've seen Saturday's Warrior. I remember some kids in Sugar I used to babysit and that was their favorite movie. I can't remember their last name - do you remember the family with 4 kids and the last 2 were twins. I think their last name was Lyndsay? Anyway, cute family picture of you all on your couch too!

Heather, you are such a good example to me. Watching conference with the whole family and setting the kids up with activities to get them as involved in conference as you can. I should have been more prepared. I sent the kids upstairs to watch a movie so I could listen in peace. Next time I will have to try a little harder. Thanks for your example.
