It wouldn't be my life without documenting the Big Food Dilemma that consistently faces our family. I don't know if anyone else in my family considers it a problem, but this mama does. The dilemma is that about 90% of the time, whatever dinner/dessert I thoroughly enjoy, Jimmy tolerates... and when Jimmy enjoys dinner/dessert I generally don't appreciate it. And our kids are even pickier than Jimmy and I are (which could partially be our own fault).
So - what are we do to with a family of picky eaters with different tastes? We keep trying to find meals, vegetables, and desserts that we will delight in together. But honestly it gets frustrating for this mama when I actually get so excited about a recipe or cooking project and I'm the only one who really enjoys it. It just isn't very fun that way and it isn't worth the time/energy/resources to make a scrumptious thing just for myself. Looking on the bright side, one thing Jimmy and I can always agree on is a really nice steak and potato dinner. I'm trying to figure out if some day when we create our world, if we could make eating an optional thing. That way we could just eat the healthy foods that we enjoy with a tad of tasty desserts here and there. This food dilemma is definitely a very minor mortal issue. Think of all the bazillions of people who would just love to have any nutritious food to eat. Hmmm... that makes me feel a little spoiled and that I ought to just be grateful that we have food at all. Okay - maybe this is just our small food dilemma that we will overcome!

Can I just hug you right now Heather? Seriously, we deal with the same problem and it drives me insane! Not too long ago I was really upset with the boys about the dinner thing and I quit! I told them no dinner from now on, it is dirt and worms for dinner! :) :) I totally feel your pain here. It IS hard. Maybe it is a small dilemma to some, but to me it is big. It can be very frustrating!
Seriously! I so get this, Heather. What do you do? It seems like there's always someone who doesn't like something. You feel like a restaurant sometimes, huh? We've resorted to "eat what is served or have cold cereal" at our house. It's keeping us sane, that is for sure.
Dirt and worms sounds ok (isn't that crushed oreos and gummy worms :), but that fillet mignon looks AWESOME! (And my friend Becky convinced us that there are enough vitamins in cold cereal to count just fine for a meal! and her husband is a dentist.)
So glad cereal is nutritous! My kids live on cereal. Sometimes I make dinner that I know they won't eat so rather than fight with them I let them pick what cereal they want. It is a daily battle! Good luck! So glad our husbands tolerate our meals. :)
