Our morning started out with a drive to Mississippi to check out some property where the youth hayride/dance is going to be held in a few weeks. Jimmy gets such an excited look on his face seeing the 15 acres this family has. He took a ride on the 4-wheeler to check out the route for the hayride. I really think he would have been a good farmer, enjoying working his land and seeing the fruits of his labors. He could build us a barn, a huge playhouse for the kiddos, make a fire pit, and drive the kids around on tractors. The sound of all that work makes me tired so I'll have to sit inside and watch the family from a big bay window and then bring them big cups of lemonade. So - where should we buy land? After seeing the weather reports out of Idaho today(Mary's blog), I'm thinking we aren't ready to be snowed in.
This picture of the kids was taken by a cotton field that is about ready to be harvested. Cotton on the plant is pretty much just like a cotton ball from the store, except it has about 5 or 6 big seeds in it and is more dense. I sure feel sorry for all those folks who picked cotton by hand back-in-the-day because those cotton plants have sharp thorns. After conference, Jimmy decided to pull the swimming pool out one last time for the year. The kids had a fun time going down the slide into the pool. We grilled some hamburgers which Hannah gobbled down (the girl is so in love with pickles) and Abe sneered at. But overall it was a fun end-of-summer day.And we enjoyed conference despite all the wiggles and talkings from kiddos. I was super pleased with ksl.com and eventually byutv.org with their video feed. We got to watch every bit of it. Yippee! As for the wiggly kiddos, I'll be surprised if our baby comes out looking at all normal since I'm sure he's gotten so many elbows from Abe. I love to hold my kids but whenever Abe gets off my lap, he uses his elbow to dig his way out. But the funniest thing Abe's done lately with my belly is to put stickers on my shirt right over my poky belly button. He thinks it's hilarious. And today he decided to put his mouth close to my belly and say 'Cock-a-doodle-do, Wake up Baby'. Maybe you had to be there, but it was funny.

Oh, that Abe is cracking me up. Why do kids always have such sharp elbows? Kyle gets me in the thigh all the time! Ouch!! Your day seemed next to perfect! Love the picture of the goggled kids just chillin' in the pool. I cannot believe that we each had complete autumn weather extremes today! I think I'd rather have yours though. :) Love you!
What a fabulous end of the summer party! I loved seeing the cotton plants. I've never seen one, thanks for describing it. I've always wondered about it and now I know! I love your kids sunglasses! That cracks me up! And their goggles in the swimming pool! Too cute! I can't believe it's warm enough there to go swimming. That seems like a distint memory to us. Sad! I love that Abe puts stickers on your belly button. That makes me laugh. Glad you had such a great day! (Oh, and I hear you about the elbows! I know your baby will still come out cute as can be!)
It sounds so beautiful there, Heather. Way to enjoy those last days of summer. The pics of your kids are so cute. Love the shades!!
It's so great that our kiddos keep us laughing. Fun day and cool photo in the cotton field.
