On Friday FedEx had a trick-or-treating event for employees' kiddos. Many of the cubicle aisles were decorated and the employees dressed up to hand out trick-o-treat candy. Hannah loved seeing the Wizard of Oz aisle with the yellow brick road, Candy Land (her favorite), and the Pirate ship. Abe just kept saying "Cool Halloween". Well - why wouldn't it be cool since everyone is just handing out a bunch of candy? Hannah is dressed up as a Ballerina Fairy Princess (she didn't feel very good about holding an orange pumpkin that wouldn't match her pink outfit so she found her pink purse to use) and Abe is Lightning McQueen (whenever Jimmy kneels down for a photo, for some reason Abe thinks he has to as well).
I'm really not a huge fan of Halloween or the fact that kids just go around asking for candy. (Jimmy is trying to remind me to just have fun and not take it so seriously). Bah-hum-bug. One thing I do enjoy is seeing little kids in their adorable and creative costumes. Our kids were very excited about their costumes (and I liked how economical they were). Stephanie gave me the idea years ago to buy pjs for halloween outfits because then you actually have a useful item for the $$. Since Abe despises dressing up, I figured a PJs Lightning Mcqueen shirt would be a huge hit with him.
We also ventured out to the ward trunk-or-treat in the drizzling rain. Abe can't say trick-o-treat (why would I want to teach him that phrase anyway?) so he just smiled charmingly and said "Happy Halloween" and Hannah became a very serious and shy fairy and quietly said thanks. She was cold despite all our efforts to layer up and finally decided it was okay to wear fairy wings over a coat. It really is fun to see kids get so excited about holidays and to enjoy childhood.

Dressing up for my kids isn't their favorite thing either. It isn't so bad anymore, but when Braden was Abe's age he would cry and cry. I had to get him costumes that were like normal clothes (like the pajamas) so he would wear them. Halloween is fun for the kids! I love seeing them so excited.
Cute kids, Heather! Hannah looks so pretty and Abe . . . what a great idea to use PJs so he'll wear it. You're thinkin'!
Happy Halloween! I can't believe Hannah is so fashion conscious. But I guess there have to be girls out there more aware than me!
I love their costumes! Very cute. Hannah makes a very beautiful princess fairy. Lexi loved seeing her costume.
I love Halloween! Not the candy part, just the festivities and fun and looking forward to more holidays coming soon. It's the start of it all for me.
And we're doing the Candy Witch Fairy this year (kind of like the tooth fairy). I heard of it on Sally's blog. I ordered some new books and I'm going to have them leave their candy for the candy fairy and get their surprise in the morning. I thought that was a fabulous idea! Who needs more candy anyway? We've had so much of it already this Halloween that just the thought of it makes me feel sick.
Anyway, very cute picture of your kids in costumes. Happy Halloween!
What a cute picture, I have never liked the idea of Halloween either. Even as a kid I hated Trick-or-treating. What a fun thing for FedEx to do for the holidays!
