Glucose, Sickies, Dirt, Home

GOOD NEWS!... I found out yetserday that I passed my glucose tolerance test. Yippee! I failed the first tests with my other pregnancies and had to do the 3-hour one. This time I am so glad I don't have to take the 3-hour test. Now, all I need to do is eat as healthy as I did the day before and day of my test. All I ate the morning of my test was scrambled eggs and water for breakfast. Today I made Pioneer Woman Oatmeal Crispies cookies and they were sure tasty. Eating in moderation I suppose is the key.

SICKIES... Miss Hannah came home from preschool on Tuesday with a fever and sore throat. She was so sad to have to stay home Wednesday and Thursday from preschool. It's funny how little ones love going to school so much and by high school the teens would just love to miss school even if for sickness. Wednesday was a nice day because we just stayed home all day. The kids rested and watched movies and I folded laundry. Now everyone in the fam has some sort of cold or sore throat. Such is the beginning of the cold season - especially with kiddos in school being exposed to all sorts of gooby germs. Icky!

DIRT... Now Abe did go to preschool on Thursday. I went to pick him up and he was wearing a different shirt than when I dropped him off. They played at a water table and the kid soaked his shirt. On Tuesday, he happened to wear shorts and when he got home, his knee was black (partly from a wound that bled and got dirty) and his legs were filthy from dirt. I'm glad he has so much fun playing on the playground, but he really needs to be hosed down and disinfected after preschool. Getting dirty is probably all part of the fun for him, I suppose. He told me the other day he loved Miss Erin, his teacher. She is so sweet and patient with Abe. She discovered that he loves musical instruments and she even let him play the cymbals. What fun for a 3-year-old boy!

HOME... I've been thinking this week about how I enjoy days at home. I think ever since I was young, I always liked spending time at home. The homes I grew up in were pleasant places to be and I think I just liked the safety and security of HOME. Yes, sometimes I go stir-crazy and need to get out and see and talk to friends or adults. Yes, I love to get fresh air either in my back yard or the outdoor mall. But overall, I'm thinkin' HOME is a great place.

Sorry you guys have sickness going around. I'm totally with you on the Home thing! That's the place to be. And some kids and dirt (it's not always boys--but usually!) is the funniest magnetism thing. Fun post.

Heather, I love days at home too. I sometimes don't mind being sick because it means I have a good excuse to lay on the couch and not do chores or go anywhere. Otherwise I always feel to guilty to sit down. There's always too much to do. It's no fun having sick kids tho. I hope everyone in your family gets feeling better. I love that Abe comes home dirty. Such is the life of a boy! At least you know he's having fun. Porter is so sad that he doesn't get to go to school this year. I'm glad both your kids get to go. Oh, and congrats on your glucose test! I'm sure that's a big relief. Hooray!
