Chores and Rewards

Yesterday Hannah really wanted to go to Bruster's to get some Cotton Candy Ice Cream. So we put the kids to work so they could help earn their reward. Hannah is still young enough that she loves doing extra chores and learning to clean (even the bathroom!!). It is nice to have happy little helpers for now (I only wish it would last into those teenager years). And a big thanks to Jimmy for vacuuming and mopping the entire house and doing 3 loads of laundry(he saved my back). Yesterday reminded me of the Saturdays when we would all tidy the house and do our weekly chores and then mom and dad would take us swimming at the college and to Millhollow for Frozen Yogurt. Those are fun family memories.

Loved the days of swimming and frozen yogurt!! Remember when mom would make sloppy joes with homemade rolls that we would eat after swimming or baths on Saturday nights with our mathing bathrobes and pink curlers in our hair? What a fun memory. Way to help the tradition live on Heather!!

Heather,
that scrapbook page is so darn cute. YOu do so good. It's fun when things we do in our daily lives remind us when we were little.

Cute memories for your kids, and fun memories of your own childhood! I've been thinking about family traditions lately and think those are fun ones your family used to do. I thought about how much work it is to bathe kids and get them ready for church and what a good mom you had to put rollers in you and Mary's hair. What a job to get 7 kids ready!

Your kids look so cute and cool in their sunglasses. What a fun reward for doing chores.

Good for you and your kids to do your jobs! I used to love a clean bathroom (still do!) and whatever it takes to get it there. I can't believe it's still ice cream weather somewhere :)
