Talents

Last night for scriptures we read the story of the 10 talents from the New Testament Children's stories. When we finished, Hannah said, "well, I have a lot of talents mom." So I asked her what they were. She listed 'coloring and drawing, singing, dancing' and a few others. I love that little kids can have confidence in being who they are and that they recognize and see the good in themselves. I suppose that is one reason why we are taught to be like innocent little children - to see ourselves more like Heavenly Father sees us and to be confident. Today Hannah was singing in an opera voice and doing some funny dance and said, "This is one of my talents."

Yesterday she decided to write and illustrate some stories about our family in each of the 4 seasons. One started like this, "One fine fall day our family went to the zoo..." These pictures are Hannah encouraging Abe to join her in drawing. She decided she wanted to submit a drawing to the Friend magazine so she had it open by her to see what others drew. And her friend Arianne taught her how to make birthday hats so she made about 10 hats during the day yesterday with birthday cakes drawn on them. And then she drew balloons for her and Abe to carry around. They pretended all day it was their birthday and they kept finding random toys to give as presents to each other.
