Raspberry Freezer Jam

Tonight after Abe went to bed early, Hannah and I had a special activity making Raspberry Freezer Jam. I'm all about easy so I buy this no-cook Fruit Jell and I just use frozen fruit (I know - weird probably). All you add is 1 1/2 cups sugar, the pectin, and 4 cups crushed fruit (super easy to crush with my braun chopper attachment). It is fun to do with Hannah as she loves stirring and taste testing the frozen raspberries and then the jam. I love homemade jam because I can make it the consistency I like - smooth and not too firm. After trying the jam on wheat toast, I've decided it is sure tasty. I think this is probably the closest I'll ever get to canning - though I am envious of those who make such tasty food storage items that last all winter long. I fear if I spent hours and hours and all my energy that my canned goods wouldn't be as tasty as I'd hoped - kindof my life story with cooking. So for now, I'll stick to easy-peasy freezer jam.

This is the same way I make freezer jam....easy, fast and yummy! The only way to do it! Isn't freezer jam the best on toast...yum!

Nice job Heather! I agree that freezer jam is awesome. I need to get some more raspberry. I made strawberry last summer, but never eat it. I've always been more of a raspberry kind of gal. Nice of you to let miss Hannah help.

Good job Heath! I made some freezer jam last summer and it's still in there. I decided to forego that this year since my family didn't quite appreciate it. I try to put it on their peanut butter sandwiches and they panic! I'll try it again in a few years I guess. But so yummy on wheat bread! Great job!

Porter got up here to type a message for Abe:

This kind looks really good with more fruit/less sugar. We eat more strawberry than raz, but love both kinds of freezer jam. Excellent project with Hannah.
