After enjoying a nice tasty fresh peach and some wheat toast with sparse homemade strawberry jam (looks like tomorrow I better make some more for what is wheat toast without jam), oh... where was I... I figured it was about time I blogged for the sake of the family journal. Perhaps you thought I was working so hard at cleaning my house, that I hadn't a moment to blog... alrighty then... I was working occasionally, resting occasionally (this blasted cold went to my chest), eating occasionally (still not a big fan of most food, though, I might add), mothering occasionally (okay - really more than occasionally), reading occasionally (Bridge to Terabithia is a sad story), and scrapbooking occasionally.
Here's what my kids have been up to:
Hannah is super excited to have a new friend, Abby, just her age who lives close by, is in her primary class, and is going to her same preschool. Today she came over to play. She was the cowgirl and Hannah was the princess as they set a lovely table for a delightful picnic of apples (eaten with forks), water, and rice krispy treats. She is a really sweet friend for Hannah.
Hannah has been initiating pretend school with Abe. She packs a lunch for each of them (whole apple and juice box) in a brown paper sack. Then she gets backpack and rescue pack. Then she dresses herself (and Abraham) similar to school uniform type attire. She sets up the end tables and chairs. They ride the bus (must hurry - don't be late). She brings out the picnic table for lunch. They have recess outside. They learn their ABCs and 123s and draw pictures. Then they come home on the bus (vroom-vroom) and tell me all about it. It entertains them for an least 30 minutes. One day when they were eating apples at pretend school lunch break, Hannah said very swoonily(hmmm, is that a word?), "this is like the life of my dreams...going to school."
When I had my cold, the kids took off all the couch cushions and lined them up on the floor to jump on. Then they got pillows, their stuffed animals, and blankets and made a hospital. They declared that their animals were sick and needed care. They gave them pretend medicine and water and lots of love and attention. Abe even shared his basketball blankie, his Dora ball, and his cars with sick little George.
Soooo - my kids are up for lots of pretend adventures. I'm grateful Hannah has such an imagination to entertain Abe. She is a good big sister. She even drew Abe a picture of a train today that he loved. As for Abe, today when I said, "I love you, Abe" he actually said, "I love you mom" and gave me a hug. Usually I have to tell him to say he loves me. Such a rough and tumble boy I suppose. But I love those hugs and kisses when they come.

Hannah is so creative! What a sweet, cute girl. Hope you get feeling better so soon!
Your kids play "pretend" so cute! I love that Hannah packs school lunch and heads off with Abe on the bus. That is so darling! And the hospital . . . they have great imaginations!
What darling kids you have. I love reading what Hannah's imagination has come up with. It is great! What a sweet thing to hear from Abe too. I love it!
Heather, what cute kids you have. I love your dialogue and description of everything. What fun memories they will have when they're teenagers, and how fun to read about how they used to play together so well and what they used to play. How cute! And I hope you get feeling better quickly.
You're kids have such good imaginations. I hope you are feeling better. I sure enjoy reading blogs, it helps me feel connected. I feel so far away from everyone.
Excellent recountings of the imaginative adventures of your kids!
