Hannah's 1st Day of Preschool

Today was Hannah's first day of preschool. Here is the summary in Hannah's words,
"Hannah had fun at preschool. She played with toys with Abbey. And she dressed up with Abbey. We played on the playground. I played with Tolkien. I had fun with Miss Sally. For our snack we had animal crackers and water. I holded onto my necklace. My necklace helped me so I could get a hug from mom. The End."
She did great when I left (I think i was nearer to tears than she was - though I didn't cry amazingly enough). It really is a bit adjustment for me to send my kids to preschool. Hannah goes 3 days and Abe goes 2 days a week each for 6 hours. I feel like I'm sending them off into the big world and that I'm not in control of all the influences that they will face. Which probably sounds silly to most of you who send your kids off daily to school. But it's a new phase for me. I gave Hannah a necklace with a 'courage' and a 'love' so she could hold onto it if she felt lonely or scared. And we thought it would be a good idea for Jimmy to give the kids priesthood blessings to start out that tradition at the first of the school years. She thought it was so special. Hannah told her teacher that she wasn't as scared because her dad gave her a priesthood blessing. I'm sure her teacher didn't quite know what to say about that. But I'm glad she's having good experiences.

Because of Hannah's comment last week about going to school being the life of her dreams, Jimmy asked Hannah if she was now living the life of her dreams. She became all swooney and declared she did like preschool. Here is a video of Hannah discussing preschool. Nice and brief and to the point.

The other comment I loved from today was from Hannah right after she came out of the bathroom (a place for deep thoughts I suppose). She said,
"Mom, can I tell you something I know?" Sure (said I). "All of us look the same and might dress the same. But we all have different spirits that never change."
I used her quote in my talk at Young Women's about the blessings of knowing who you are as a daughter of God. I hope she always has that confidence and testimony of who she is and her special purpose and mission here on earth.

So cute! What great teaching you've done, and what a sweetheart to think about things like that. What cute kids you have. And what a great mom you are!
