Oh what do you do in the summertime...

Hannah's comments on the 'Let them be little' song. "But mom, we can't stay little forever. We have to grow up. So what does that song mean?" So I explained that it helps moms and dads remember to enjoy the fun moments when their kids are little. She is a funny little girl to notice all these things.

I saw this idea for summertime popsicle jobs on Happy Scrapbooker Lady Blog. So today I got the kiddos together and wrote some daily jobs on craft sticks and then wrote some weekly jobs. They thought it was very fun to select a stick. Unfortunately Abe got 'help with dishes' which helped me realize I need to do certain jobs for Hannah and certain ones for Abe. Hannah can be more independent on most chores than Abe is. But he sure tried to help load the silverware and cups in the dishwasher. Hannah vacuumed the dining room and kitchen. So, we'll see how our summer popsicle chore time goes. I figured every morning I need to set aside an hour and do basic daily chores with my kids and do better at a morning routine. Here's to kickin' off the first day of summer with work, work, and more work.

awesome idea! we are going to try Stacy's clipboard idea. that seemed organized just right. i noticed that Geoff is the one to assign the chores and monitor homework. nice to have him a big part--he's just a busy doctor!
