Life with mom and 2 kiddos

Jimmy has been camping in the Ozarks of Arkansas the past 3 days with the YM High Adventure. This has made for 3 long days with me and the kiddos. Here are the highlights:

- making strawberry freezer jam with Hannah. She stirred with a 'smatula'. Even though she doesn't even like jam, she loves to help me cook.

- painting light-switch covers for the kid's bedroom. It was a super cheapo activity. Abe kept mixing colors and his turned into globs of rainbow-brite. Hannah strategically painted the stripes and dots. Then when it dried she put shiny butterfly sickers on. We modged-podged them to give them a shine.

- Jelly Belly. We went to Super Target on Thursday and selected a few jelly beans. I used them as incentives for the kids to be good at the store. I'd have to say my favorites were root beer, pink grapefruit, pear, tangerine, tutti frutti, and peach.

- finally killing the mosquito that's been living in our house for 4 days.

- I finished my 'Peculiar in a good way' book by Mary Ellen Edmunds. It was super!

- received 2 SFD orders...1 for wedding announcements and 1 baby announcement. Yippee!

- cleaned off the junk counter. I really couldn't even see the counter before. Jimmy will be so relieved to know it still exists. I think I threw away about 50 drawings by Hannah. And I found some things I've been looking for - amazing how that works!

- pulled out the sprinklers and swimming pool. Then it started to thunder...so after 15 minutes of fun, we headed inside.

- buying rootbeer and banana popsicles. Yum! Anyone want the Lime ones that came in the box?

Sounds like you survived having your husband gone. It is never fun to be a single mom for a few days. It always makes me more have more empathy for single moms. You are so good at doing fun activities with your kids.

Those are the best Jelly Belly flavors! Great weekend of productivity and kicking back. Good job, Heath. Cool photos of Jimmy's camp.
