The un-talk

Yesterday at the end of Young Women's a leader poked her head in and gave me the 'I need you NOW' look. I thought for sure it was an emergency with my family. But alas... she told me Hannah was giving a talk in primary and thought I might want to be there. So sure enough, Hannah was standing at the pulpit with the Primary President (who was whispering to Hannah asking her if her mommy was coming to help or if she just knew her talk). Oh yes, last week they gave me a slip of paper asking Hannah to give a talk and I completely forgot about it by Sunday night. I had been so excited to help Hannah prepare her first talk in primary and teach her how to do it all. So anyhoo... here we are at the pulpit and I remembered that the topic was the Restoration of the Gospel so I whispered a short sweet talk to Hannah and she said it so loud and clear. She did a super job. So today we're going to prepare the talk the correct way and Hannah can present it at FHE. (See Carol's blog for the proper way to prepare and present a primary talk).

Oh - this was kindof a funny story from last week. The men were teaching primary so the other women teachers could go to R.S. for Mother's Day. And this grandpa-age man who used to be a mission president was teaching Hannah's class. And he told us later that he should have just let Hannah teach the class because she knew so much and was talking so much. So I asked Hannah about class and she said "I just couldn't stop talking." I asked what she told her teacher and she said, "I told him everything I knew." Which was what Hannah? 'That Abe is 2, and that I like strawberries and bananas...' So we had a discussion with her about knowing when to be quiet and STOP TALKING.

It is so understandable, with everything going on in life, to forget to prepare for a talk, but I'm so completely impressed that you were able to go in there and wing it! Good job Heather!

Cool, that Christi and Hannah had talks on the same day. Fun, contrasting posts, too! Sounds like everyone made it through. Mae has a talk next week (except for Stake Conference, it would have been yesterday, too! Crazy!), so we will do our best :)
