Simple American Dreams

This week I've been thinking about the American Dream and what it really means. I heard a guy on tv say that Donald Trump was the epitome of the American Dream. There seems to be so much more to the American Dream than only $$ and being famous?' The American Dream means so much more to me so perhaps I'll get my thoughts together on this and come up with my own American Dream analysis.

I was glancing through a quote scrapbook page I made in 2006 and the image reminded me of America. My journaling says this...
"I am grateful for those who have gone before; those women who forged onward with courage; those men who fought bravely for freedoms we enjoy; those who pressed forward in faith despite tragedy, death, and sorrow; those who had simple dreams & had the courage to make them happen for those of us living today." 2.17.06

Wow, this is awesome! I read a book about Abigail Adams once and gained profound respect for her and all the families of the founding fathers. In high school, Mr. Thomas assigned me to read My Antonia, a pioneer woman's tale. We have great heritage in our pioneer ancestors, too. This is beautiful and good to remember, Heather.

You constantly amaze me, Heather, at not only all the cool quotes you find but how you put them together with pictures and great backgrounds/fonts. You are just talented. That's all there is to it!

I think your right Heather. It seems like the rags to riches story as become the central theme of the American Dream (even though I am pretty sure the Donald was never really in the rags category).

I think we as a nation tend to forget that the freedom of opportunities is what makes the American Dream become an American Reality. It doesn't neccesarily (spelling? I am tired) have to be monetary wealth, but it can be rags to riches in well-being, spirituality, education, etc. b/c of the freedom of opportunities that we are so lucky to have.
