12th day of Christmas

It seems as though we have begun the 12 days before Christmas. Tonight for mutual the young women had a musical Christmas fireside. It was sweet to hear their songs and then we watched the church nativity movie with Amy Grant singing Breath of Heaven. I love that. Mary was such an amazing and brave woman to do all that she did to travel on a donkey so far at nine months pregnant...and to give birth in a stable. She definitely must have been the best and most humble woman to have that calling to raise such a special baby...our Savior. So- for the next 12 days I'm making a serious effort to focus on the spiritual side of Christmas especially with my kids. We'll see how we do. In other news...Mothering...what to do? I am one of those moms who is ultra-cautious and always worry about my kids getting hurt. Sooo...today we were out front and because our driveway is a slight hill, Abe and Hannah think it is so fun to run so fast down the hill. And of course Abe has a hard time obeying and stopping at the driveway. They were wearing their Crocs shoes and starting to get silly and I warned them to be careful but decided to just let them play. So then they started running in circles on the hill part and of course Abe falls and gets a very slight cut on his hand, his lip, and his nose.....but of course it is totally bleeding and he is crying. I suppose that is one of those things kids have to learn on their own since I can't save him from every injury that may occur when he is simply playing normally. Plus we have that cement with rocks poking out of it so it is extra rough on kids. I'm slowly learning to roll with the punches and hopefully I'll learn how not to overprotect and baby my kids. Oh - but it is hard sometimes. On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...a partridge in a Pear Tree...la-la-la-la!!
