Yesterday I realized that the more time I spend in stores(even when just browsing or returning items), the less content I feel about the things I do have. And the more I do productive things with my family or in my home, the more content I feel. I suppose it has to do with my perception of what I really NEED and also where my heart is. A year or so ago I read Mary Ellen Edmunds book, 'You can never have enough of what you don’t need.' It was such a 'put things in perspective' kind of book to help me think through what really will help me find joy in life. So I think it is time for a reevaluation of priorities so that I make sure I do the most important things first like filling my mind and heart with good things like prayer, scriptures, pondering on the blessings I have, and creating pleasant moments with my family. For even Helen Keller said, "Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content." What a good attitude! I found this quote (the image in blue) about being Happy on another blog by Rhonna Farrer. I like this quote because I want to always be grateful and happy for what I have - but also pursue and dream of more(but I think the clue is to pursue the most meaningful things like family, the gospel, relationships). I still have so many things to work on...just keep swimming...just keep swimming...just keep swimming!
